Day 1:ARRIVAL DAY AT KATHMANDU

As you fly into captivating Kathmandu, you’ll have incredible views over the valley, panoramic views of the Himalayas, and wonderful landscapes below. After landing at the Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be welcome with your name and greeted of a representatives of Asia Outfitter who will pickup you and drop off at your hotel. After check in at the hotel, take rest after refresh. After time to get fresh then our representative will brief you about the program and in the evening, a welcome dinner will be hosted by Asia Outfitter in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu and back to hotel for night stay.

After your breakfast you’ll have to head on for your guided day tour to UNESCO world heritage sites in this captivating Kathmandu. Early morning, you’ll be transferred to a domestic airport to catch the mountain flight to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft). Enjoy the remarkable views of the Himalayas. It takes 35 minutes to land your plane at Lukla airport where you meet the rest of our team at the same time you will have a tea break while the guide sorts out and divide the load baggage to be carried by porters. Your guide will manage the Lunchtime on your route. Now, you will begin trekking from Lukla. You should walk on a trail that gradually descends to Cheplung village from where you will get a chance to explore a beautiful glimpse of Mt. Khumbila, a holy sacred peak that has never been climbed. En-route you will see the scenic view of Numbur Himal & Phari and explore the Sherpa farm villages through the trail.

After crossing the Dudhkoshi River with gradual with few ascends from Thado Koshi you will reach Kusum Kangaru (6,369m/20,890ft) where you will have delicious local lunch with amazing scenic view from here again you most have walked another 1 and half hours to reach Phakding village. After having a healthy breakfast in the morning then you will have to begin your trek from Phakding through wonderful pine forests and then along Dudhkoshi River ending your nature-filled trail with few ups and downs till arriving at Namche Bazaar.

After crossing the same river again with a stunning view of Mt. Thanserku (6,608m/21,675ft). Throughout the journey, you will get to experience the serenity of pine, fir, and juniper forests, which makes your walk more peaceful and enjoyable.

Trek continuing crossing the bridge and arrives at Monjo. Here, your trekking permit is checked and keeps all the records of trekkers including all local staff, and also there you can see the entrance gate of the Sagarmatha National park as well. Your trail descends after entering the National Park boundary. A gentle walk brings you to experience the suspension bridge with natural beauty on your surrounding over the Bhote Koshi river then step at Jorsalle village which is the last village till Namche.

From here you will get to experience walking along the winding uphill path all the way to Namche Bazar with an incredible peak named ‘Kwangde’. If you are lucky to have a beautiful day with clear weather then you will explore a glimpse of Mt. After the previous day's hike and good sleep, you will wake up on this beautiful morning in the lap of the Himalayas. After having a healthy breakfast with a hot syrup of tea/coffee (again), you will continue your journey towards Dole. Today, your trek follows on the gradual trail of about two hours with an amazing nature trail and offers Sanasa a short uphill overlooking the astonishing sight of the huge ice-capped mountains from Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Everest, Nuptse, Kwangde, and Thamserku. These wonderful peaks gave me a good excuse to stop and observe them in detail.

After a pleasurable and scenic walk through the colorful rhododendron forest then you could see the viewpoint of Mongla, wherefrom you will see the magical Himalayan views and descend to Phortse Thanga along the rocky, barren path.

Finally, you reach Dole for a night stay after 5-6 hours of walk. The Dole has to be positioned in one of the fantastic settings and where you can see some teahouses with marvelous scenic views. Enjoy your night's sleep in this cool and fresh environment of Dole.

Today, your trek from Dole to Machharmo begins by climbing up to the scenic ridge above the Dole and the route ascends via Lhabarma at 4,220m to Luzza at 4,360m.

Mostly, you will find a steep route as you ascend through the scrub to Lhabarma, but again you should continue on along with the towering cliffs above the river, crossing sandy spurs with panoramic mountain views in your surroundings to reach Machharmo at 4,410m.

First yeti sightings were reported in Khumbu in 1974 in Machhamro, where some good condition hotels can be seen. And excellent views of the white peaks can be explored from this village. Approx. 4 hours of the walk will take you to Machhamro. After refresh visits the Himalayan rescue association and strolls back to the hotel for a night stay.

After breakfast on this freezing cold morning, you ascend to the ridge and can be seen outstanding view both down the valley to Khanglega and also chance to explore the Cho-Oyu (8,153m) on your northern side. After passing through the Pangram at 4,390m then your route descends to the riverbank of Dudh Koshi before starting the ascend up to the terminal moraine of the Ngazumpa glacier. It is the longest glacier in the Himalayas of Nepal which is a large persistent body of ice. From here, you had to ascend up along a narrow, rocky route on the steep side of the mountains next to the moraine.

Afterward, the route levels out as it follows the valley past a pretty green Longponga Lake which seems like a pond more than a Lake. It is situated at 4,690m altitude where you can explore some of the Lama Foot prints on a stone. Take some moments and observe the Lake with its natural beauty and head your trail for an hour more then you will step your feet at Gokyo valley at 4,750m on the edge of third Lake. Here, you can find some of the tea houses with suitable bedrooms. Your guide will take you to visit around the Lakeside after your lunch in the hotel. Overnight at lodge.

Morning wake up after a broken night’s sleep in this chilly cold environment. Now, you’ll have to hike up to the Gokyo Ri for the Panoramic view of splash a sunrise top of the Himalayas including the world’s highest peak view and much more marvelous mountain scenery. This unbelievable magical site of nature will give you internal satisfaction and makes you feel proud. This wonderful experience will be your unforgettable lifetime experience. After spending some precious moments on the top and collecting the amazing memories then stroll back an hour’s Gokyo for a hearty breakfast. Now, it’s time to head towards the Thaknak for a night stay passing through the second Lake and a risky walk on the glacier and will arrive at Thaknak. It takes approx. 5 hours of walk. It’s hard to get a perfect room in Thaknak in the busy season so be prepared at that time your guide will operate a tented camp as well. Overnight stay in Hotel/Lodge/Tent.

As your continuing journey, after breakfast, you begin your trek in the high passes. Today is the day you will be waiting for and one of the tough days to cross the Cho-La Pass which is located at 5,367m high altitude. This pass is not so strenuous but steeply and on the eastern side there you can see some of the glaciers traverses. In the morning there you can feel stable weather but in the day weather will be extremely windy in the pass. So, better to begin your trek in the early morning otherwise it may be difficult to cross the pass.

After crossing the Cho-La-Pass and then your walk goes descend into the valley called Dzongla for your night stay at teahouse/lodge/tent. Now, you reach Dzongla after experiencing the extraordinary views and crossing the might pass through the trail. Overnight stay at lodges/teahouse/tent.

The trail winds through the high tundra and moraine of the glacier to Gorekshep (16,924ft/5,158m) with panoramic views of Mt. Pumori which is a beautiful pyramid-shaped peak spreading in Nepal and Tibet and Kalapathar ( it is the most popular viewpoint in the Khumbu region) before arriving at Lobuche (4,910m) for local lunch. Another grand opportunity to view a small excellent peak called Nuptse walking along the Gorekshep. The route up to the Gorekshep presents a rougher environment with rocky and windy but it provides the stunning view of Mt. Pumori and there are magical views of the Everest Base Camp and glacier with a wonderful ice-capped view.

Now, you reach the Gorekshep for your overnight stay. Enjoy your night there at the higher altitude but be careful about the drinks and be sincere with elevation.

Today, you will have a challenging climb after having a healthy breakfast at Gorekshep. Your trail is going to be more adventurous than other days and head your trail towards the Everest Base Camp and to the Khumbu ice-fall, the route from here can be misleading, follow the head Sherpa. This route changes every year due to the glacier movements. You can experience quite a difficulty due to the high elevation and thin air. Until you arrive at the base camp you will have to passes through over terminal moraine, rocky dunes, and streams. During the expedition season there at Everest Base Camp you can see more trekkers with commotion. Approx 3 hours of your thrilling walk you can step at base camp and after enjoying the special moments by exploring the breathtaking view of the Everest then stroll back to Gorekshep for your night stay at the lodge.

Enjoy an early morning adventurous journey with a steep climb to Kalapathhar for a remarkable glimpse of sunrise over Mt. Everest with beautiful surrounding vistas. Through the way, you will feel gleaming as you achieve the moment that you have been dreaming since the first day of your trek. From the top of the Kalapathar, you can explore the stunning view of Mt. Pumori and can be observed to the south Khumbu glacier sweeps below you with a lot of picturesque scenery.

Now, it’s time to stroll back to Gorekshep and retract to Dingboche for an overnight stop at the lodge/teahouse.

After breakfast in Dingboche, you’ll have to take a very amazing short day trek towards the eastern side up to Chhukung which takes 2-3hours of a gentle walk. As you begin the trek to hidden valley Chhukung you can get a great chance to explore stunning views of Ama Dablam, Tawache, Charlotte, and the ridge of Nuptse-Lhotse.

After arriving at Chhukung there you can take a full day's rest. This is the last place to prepare the camping and check-up a climbing gear. Enjoy your night's sleep at this high altitude.

After a hearty breakfast at Chhukung, you’ll continue your journey up to Island Base Camp with steep path climbing the southern part then turning towards the east direction to the mainline of the valley. Windy weather along or below the southern side of the moraine from the Lhotse Glacier makes your trek quite strenuous. A mid strenuous cross route through Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines leads to a wide valley flanking of Island peak. Now, after 4-5 hours of gentle walk, you will arrive at Island peak base camp here, you will set up your base camp for overnight at tented camp.

After breakfast, you packed your camping stuff and head further onto the High Camp from where you begin your climb. As you climb the hill, you will observe that the slope narrows and the way to enter a steep rock channel nearby where you’ll stay overnight at camp.

Today, the day of our destination, and as begin with the sandy path changes to a rocky climb with the slope getting narrower, passing through the rock gully is not so difficult but due to the short rock steps, you may experience a little bit hard to walk. The route with this rocky steep takes a turn and then follows a ridgeline which leads to an exciting and exposed traverse onto the snout of the highest point of the glacial mass. With the help of a rope, you can pass this snow and ice slope of 100m/330ft, and several crevasses on which the guides will fix a rope. Enjoying the high altitude after successful and brave climbing is an amazing lifetime memorable experience. Take some photos on the top with the beautiful scenic view then descend a long way to Chhukung for a night stay at tea houses after 10 hours of thrilling climb and walk.

From Chhukung, feeling well-acclimatized you’ll head downhill to a lower altitude. The trail is easy and getting down to bridge your trail goes down following the brook towards another small village called Pangboche and again continue your walk to Tyanboche which is one of the most wonderful villages in the Mountain region. Here, you can explore the huge Monastery. You can see the large field with campsites, lodges, and teahouses from here, experience the impressive view of the beautiful peak Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, and towards the northeast side you can see the Lhotse Shar. Overnight at Tyangboche.

After breakfast in Tyangbochhe, you’ll head a downwards trek to Phungithanka which is a tiny settlement with a couple of tea houses. The trail leads descend through the dense forest path of blue pines, colorful rhododendrons, silver fir, and some more beautiful magnolia and birch trees. Collecting the beautiful memories while you crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi river and walk towards the Sanasa and retract to Namche Bazaar. Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.

Wake up for an early breakfast, then step back to Lukla. Firstly your trail descends the long way but it won’t be too difficult before crossing the bridge and continue your walk to Monju and then Phakding. After lunch at Phakding trek back with exploring and enjoying the stunning Himalayas, the lush green scenery around, and local Sherpa settlements. Though most of the path is a tranquil and easy downhill slope, the ending section of your trek before arriving route leads towards uphill then you will step your feet at Lukla. Wake up! Having refreshed! You’ll take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu after having some healthy breakfast at Lukla. Flight time to Kathmandu from Lukla is scheduled for morning normally due to the weather you must note that sometimes the flight time can be delayed due to the bad weather of Lukla or any other unexpected situation beyond our control. Good To Know

Can beginners climb Island Peak? How difficult is it to climb?

 

Why not? Absolutely yes! You can but you have to gain some experience in high-altitude trekking and mountaineering and also be required to be in good physical fitness. Island peak climb is considered a beginner’s climb it is an ideal choice although it is physically tough due to its high altitude (5,500m/18,044ft). So that climbers require a good level of physical fitness and experience in trekking at high altitudes. Peak climbing is not as easy as we all know that so all climbers should be in good physical condition, and be ready with their technical skills and equipment. However, the trail is safe with fixed lines all the way to the apex.

When is the best time to climb Island Peak?

 

Mostly, favorable seasons climb the peak during the pre-monsoon or post-monsoon season.

March to May and September to October months are the best and also the busiest seasons for trekking, peak climbing, tour, and hiking because we can easily observe nature’s view. Stable and fresh weather with clear skies makes your trip more interesting. In these seasons temperatures are also good to climb the summit.
